The day of Setsubun will be held on Sunday, 3rd February. As it falls on a Sunday, Ishida kindergarten will be celebrating Setsubun on Friday 1st February. We will be pretending to throw beans in the classrooms and saying “Oni wa soto fuku wa uchi”. This can be translated as “Demons go out! Good luck come in!!”. It will help to purify the classrooms, and get rid of the bad luck.

The roasted soybeans are said to bring good luck if they are eaten. It is customary to eat the same amount of beans as your age, plus an extra one. At Ishida the children will eat the following quantities: year 3 students (Tsubaki class), seven beans; year 2 students (Momo class), six beans; year 1 students (Rabbit and Tanpopo classes), five beans.

Children have started to produce special cups to hold the beans in. The year 1 students have been making ‘demon’ cups from decorated paper cups with attached ‘horn’ handles.

It will be good fun to do this activity for Setsubun. Will you be throwing beans at your house this year?

保育室で豆まきの動作をしながら「鬼は外、福は内」と言います。

英語で言うならば、「鬼はあっちに行け！幸運は入っておいで！」」となるでしょうか。

このおかげで教室も浄化され、悪い気は取り除かれるでしょう。

炒った豆を食べるといい運をもたらすと言われています。

年齢の数より１つ多く豆を食べることが習慣的です。

石田幼稚園では年長は７つ、年中は６つ、年少は５つ食べる予定です。

子どもたちは特別な豆入れを作り始めました。

年少の子どもたちは、紙コップに角をつけた鬼のカップを作っています。

節分に向けての活動は楽しいものになるでしょう。今年はみなさんはお家で豆まきをしますか？）
