We have been celebrating the birthdays of students that were born in the months of December or January. All of the students assembled at the hall on the second floor. There were five students who were taking part this time, and were drawn from Tanpopo, Momo, and Tsubaki classes.

Arai sensei discussed what events had taken place, as well as what students had done, in December and January. In this period, there has been Christmas, restaurant role-play, the New Year, and the winter holidays.

We sang some birthday songs, and the participating children lined up on stage to introduce themselves. Afterwards, we watched a cartoon video. This would perhaps be called “The Fight of the Monkey and the Crabs”, if it were in English. It follows a monkey who is nasty to some crabs. The monkey attacks the crabs and causes one to die. After this, other animals and items come together to help the crabs. They beat the monkey to teach it a lesson. The story is illustrating the point that we should not be nasty to others, even if they are much smaller and weaker than us!

After the event we could all get some snacks to eat back at our group classrooms. We ate really delicious rice crackers.

A very happy birthday to all the students that are celebrating their birthdays during these two months.

（12月と1月生まれのお友達のお誕生日をお祝いしていました。

全園児が2階のお遊戯室へ集まって、つばき組、もも組、たんぽぽ組から5人のお友達が出てくれました。

新井先生が12月と1月にしたことや行事についてお話してくれました。

この期間にはクリスマス会やレストランごっこ、年末年始や冬休みがありましたね。

誕生日の歌をいくつか歌って、誕生日のお友達は舞台に並び自己紹介をしました。

しばらくして、アニメのビデオを見ました。タイトルは、もし英語で言うとすれば「サルとカニの戦い」になるでしょうか。

カニにいじわるなサルが、悪さをしてカニを死なせてしまいます。その後、ほかの動物やモノがカニを助けるために力を合わせます。

みんなでサルをやっつけてこらしめます。このお話はたとえ周りの人が自分たちより小さかったり弱かったりしても、いじわるをしてはいけないということを示しています。

行事の後は保育室に戻っておやつをいただきました。とてもおいしいおかきでした。

この2か月にお誕生日を迎えたお友達、おめでとうございます。）
