Halloween is now here. This event is celebrated every year on October 31st.

Various spooky characters and creatures are said to appear in the evening, such as: ghosts, witches, skeletons, mummies, monsters, vampires, jack-o’-lanterns, scarecrows, spiders, bats, etc.

Children often do fun activities on this day, such as carving out pumpkins to make jack-o’-lanterns, apple bobbing, dressing up in fancy dress costumes, playing Halloween games, and of course, going trick-or-treating. They also enjoy doing crafts, including making paper ghosts and other characters, building haunted houses, preparing scary face masks, and producing Halloween outfits.

In the International class, we have been talking about Halloween, and playing Halloween games. We also did trick-or-treating in the school yard. Children would try to find the hidden teachers and say to them “Knock knock, trick or treat”, they could then receive an origami paper candy. The candies were the treat, but they had to be careful of the skeleton that suddenly appeared as a trick!! Mostly the children found us really quickly, but in the last round it took a long time to find me behind the school shed!

Students could then put the candies that they had collected, into jack-o’-lantern trick-or-treat bags. These bags had been produced yesterday during craft time.

Halloween might be a little scary, but I prefer to think of it as good spooky fun!

（ハロウィーンがやってきました。この行事は毎年10月31日にお祝いされます。

おばけや魔女、骸骨、ミイラ、怪物、吸血鬼、ジャコランタン、カカシ、蜘蛛、コウモリなど、たくさんの不気味なキャラクターや生き物が夜に現れると言われています。

子どもたちはよくこの日に楽しい活動をします。パンプキンを彫ってジャコランタンを作ったり、アップルボビング（日本の飴食い競争のように、水に浮かんだ小さなリンゴを口だけで取るゲーム）をしたり、仮装をしたり、もちろんハロウィーンゲームをしたり、トリックオアトリート（お菓子をくれなきゃいたずらするぞ、と近所を周る）にでかけます。

また、おばけやほかのキャラクターを作ったり、お化け屋敷を建てたり、怖い仮面を用意したり、ハロウィーンの服を作ったりも楽しみます。

インターナショナルクラスではハロウィーンのゲームをしたり、ハロウィーンについて話をしたりしてきました。

園庭でトリックオアトリートもしました。

子どもたちが隠れている先生を見つけ出し、「コンコン！お菓子をくれなきゃイタズラしちゃうぞ！」と言うと、折り紙のキャンディーを受け取れます。

そのキャンディーは（トリック　オア　トリートで言うところの）トリート（嬉しいもの）ですが、突然現れるトリック（悪だくみ）であるガイコツにも注意しなければいけませんでした。

ほとんどはすぐに先生を見つけ出したのですが、最後の一回は幼稚園の小屋の後ろに隠れた私を見つけるまで時間がかかりました。

そして集めたキャンディーをジャコランタンのハロウィンバッグにいれられました。

このバッグは昨日子どもたちが制作したものです。
