Yesterday, Ishida Kindergarten visited a nearby farm to dig up some sweet potatoes. All classes and teachers attended this trip. We all squeezed into two buses. For some students, this was their first time on a bus and first school trip. How exciting for them!

When we arrived at the farm, we walked to the area with the potatoes. There were mounds of dirt with the plants sticking out. This told us where the potatoes were. Each student was given a small section of their own marked with white chalk. They began digging with their hands.

Soon everyone began finding potatoes. They were all shapes and sizes. It felt good to find them and there was a fun energy. The students were given plastic bags to bring them home. We asked “how do you like your potatoes cooked?” In the Rabbit class, we prefer tempura-fried sweet potatoes.

After the digging, we went for a nature walk. The students found some leaves, acorns, flowers, and bugs.

In general I was very pleased with the students’ behavior. I look forward to our zoo trip as well, later this month.

（昨日，石田幼稚園はおいもほり遠足に行きました。全クラスと先生で参加して，２台のバスに乗って行きました。

中には初めての遠足で，初めてバスに乗る子どももいました。なんて楽しいんでしょう！

畑に着いて，さつまいものある場所まで歩きました。そこには茎の出た泥のマウンドがいくつかあり，どこにさつまいもがあるか分かりました。白い線で一人ひとりの範囲を区切り，みんな手で掘り始めました。

すぐにみんなサツマイモを見つけ出し，どれもいろいろな形やサイズをしていました。おいもほりはとても楽しく，いいエネルギーがありました。子ども達はおいもを持ち帰るようにビニール袋をもらいました。ラビット組で「どうやってそのおいもを食べたい？」と尋ねると，みんな天ぷらやスイートポテトがいいようでした。

いもほりの後，少しだけ周りを散策しました。子ども達は葉っぱやどんぐり，花，虫などを見つけました。

全体的に私は子ども達のお行儀よさに感心しました。今月にある動物園への遠足も楽しみです。
