Today, all the students in year 2 at Ishida kindergarten attended an Anpanman show at Miyako Messe. The Bear class and the Momo class travelled there together on one of our school buses. The bus was driven by driver Toshikura. The event was organised by the Kyoto city municipal government, and was for private preschools in Kyoto. Its aim was to allow the schools to foster strong relationships and to promote preschool education. Both teachers and parents could attend, as well as the pupils. Hopefully it could increase the interest in education between the different groups.

The event was split into two parts: the ceremony, and the show. The ceremony was presented by the mayor of Kyoto. As official ceremonies can be somewhat dry for small children, we played together by singing and dancing some songs…. including one where the children had to call out “Ya Ha!!” Some of the children presented the mayor with flowers. The mayor also gave gifts to all of the students. These will arrive at the school some time in November.

The mayor asked the children: “Are you enjoying being with your friends?”, “Are you enjoying being with your family?”, and “Are you enjoying being with your teachers?”. A big “Hai!!” or “Yes!!” was shouted out as an answer by all of the children. The mayor really wanted all of the students to enjoy every day with their families, friends, and teachers. We also had the chance to sing and dance to the Paprika song, and the Yuki 100% (100% Courage) song. Many of the Ishida students know the dance moves very well. Unfortunately, I am not as good at remembering the actions to these songs!!!

The Anpanman show then followed. This is the part that all the students had been waiting for. The show story was called “Let’s Make a Show Together!” Five characters from the Anpanman series were in the show: Anpanman, Dokinchan, Shokupanman, Baikinman, and Shiratamasan. I was familiar with the first four characters, but I had never heard of Shiratamasan (white rice flour dupplings lady). The characters agreed that a show was a “Good idea!!”, and that they would play different roles. Baikinman even wanted to play a prince!! Anpanman always wanted to do the right thing. He didn’t want to do nasty things to others. Shiratamasan had to tell him many times that it is okay to do such things, as this was only a show! The children found this part hilariously funny every time that it happened.

The children had a great time at Miyako Messe. I know that many of the students really love the Anpanman characters and the stories that they appear in. I was impressed that the children could get organised rapidly and move quickly today. We had limited time to travel out to the hall, and had to get bad quickly for lunch time. Well done to all!!

(今日，石田幼稚園の年長さんはみやこめっせで行われた園児大会（式典やアンパンマンショー）に参加しました。ベアークラスとももクラスで一緒に幼稚園バスに乗り，参加しました。運転手さんは利倉さんです。このイベントは京都市主催で行われ，京都市の私立幼稚園に向けて行われました。この大会の目的は，園同士の繋がりを強めることと，幼児教育を促進させるためです。保育者，保護者も子ども達と一緒に参加することが出来ました。幼児教育への関心を高められたと思います。

このイベントは式典とショーの二部に分かれていました。式典では京都市市長がご挨拶をされました。小さい子ども達にとっては，式典は少し退屈してしまったかもしれませんが，私たちは一緒に”ヤッホー”という歌を歌ったり，踊ったりし，市長さんへ花束を渡したりしました。市長さんからも子どもたちみんなへ贈答品をくださいました。１１月頃に園に到着するそうです。

市長さんは，“お友達と楽しく過ごしていますか？”，“家族の人達と楽しく過ごしていますか？”，そして“先生と楽しく過ごしていますか？”と質問され，子ども達は大きな声で“はーい！！”　“Yes!!”と返事をしていました。市長さんは本当に全ての子ども達に，家族・友達・先生達と楽しく過ごしてほしいと思われていました。また，私達はパプリカのダンスや勇気１００％の歌を歌う機会もありました。石田幼稚園のお友達は，動きをよく知っています。残念なことに，私はこの曲の踊りを知らず，踊れませんでした！！！

そして次にアンパンマンショーが続きます。このショーは子ども達みんなが待ちわびていたものです。ストーリーは，“一緒にショーを作ろう！”というもので，アンパンマンシリーズからアンパンマン・ドキンちゃん・しょくぱんまん・ばいきんまん・そしてしらたまさんの５人のキャラクターが登場しました。初めの４つのキャラクターは私も知っていたのですが，しらたまさんは，私にとって初めてのキャラクターでした。キャラクターたちはショーを行うことに“いいね！！”と賛成し，それぞれ違った役でショーを行っていました。ばいきんまんは王子様になりたかったんですよ！！アンパンマンはいつも正しいことをしたかったようです。彼は他のキャラクターに悪い言葉を使うことが劇でさえ嫌だったようです。しらたまさんは何度もアンパンマンにアンパンマン，これはショーだよ！と言っていたのですが，アンパンマンは頑なに嫌で…そこが子どもたちにとっては面白い部分だったようです。

子ども達はみやこめっせでとても素敵な時間を過ごしました。多くの子ども達がアンパンマンやそのほかのキャラクター達，そしてお話が好きなことを改めて知りました。今日は子ども達の行動の素早さにとても印象を受けました。みやこめっせから急いで帰り，給食も急いで食べて…という忙しい日でしたが，しっかりと出来ましたね！！！
