On Wednesday, students in the year 2 classes attended a field trip to Uji Botanical Gardens. This visit enabled the students to view a variety of interesting plants and flowers, as well as walking around the landscaped areas with their classmates.

Students traveled to the gardens on two school buses. The Lion class went on the red bus, and the Tsubaki class used the navy bus. The journey took a duration of about 30 minutes each way.

There were many amazing plants to be seen inside the botanical gardens. We saw unusual sticky red flowers, long spidery plants, spicky plants, plants with long leaves, and plants with very large leaves. The children were especially happy to be able to see pineapple trees, and banana trees! There was even a cacao plant….. maybe the cacao could be used to make delicious bars of chocolate!!

After walking around, we all ate lunch, picnic style, on floor mats. We were lucky enough to be located right in front of the huge 3D flower display, and water feature. This special flower display was currently arranged to show the image of a massive dinosaur! It has previously been used to show a range of images; such as insects, animals, Picachu, Totoro, and other characters.

It was a wonderful trip, and the children had a great opportunity to see a wide range of fascinating plants in a beautiful setting!

I really enjoyed to see the dinosaur display and the banana plants.

（水曜日，年長組は宇治市植物公園へ遠足へ行きました。今回の遠足では，友だちと一緒に，様々な草木や花を観ることができたり，風景を観ながら歩くことができましたね。

子どもたちは，今回植物公園には2台の幼稚園バスで行きました。Lion組は赤バス，つばき組は紺バスに乗りましたよ。片道約30分のバス旅でした。

植物園の中は，たくさんの素晴らしい植物がありました。私たちは，普段なかなか見慣れない，ネバネバとした赤い花，蜘蛛の足ような長い植物，釘のように尖った植物，長い葉をもつ植物，そして，大きな葉の植物等を観る方ができました。子どもたちは，特にパイナップルの木とバナナの木を観ることができたことが嬉しかったようです。そして実は，カカオの木もあったのですが…きっと美味しいチョコレートに変身するのでしょうね！！

散策後は，お弁当の時間です。ピクニックのようにマットを広げて食べました。ラッキーなことに，お弁当を食べた広場の目の前には，たくさんの花で飾られた巨大な３Dスタイルの展示物が。この特別な花の展示は，現在巨大な恐竜の形になっていましたよ！この展示は過去に虫や動物，ピカチュウ，トトロ等のキャラクターになっていることもありましたよ。

とても素晴らしい遠足で，子どもたちも幅広く魅力的な植物を観る機会をもつことができました！

私は恐竜の展示とバナナの木を観られたことが，本当に楽しかったです。みんなの宇治市植物公園でのお気に入りは何かな？
