This week, our class went on a very special adventure- our very first trip together to the zoo! We were very excited as we climbed onto the bus, singing songs, and wondering what animals we would see.

When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly zoo staff and started strolling. As we walked through the zoo paths, we stumbled upon the gigantic, long-necked giraffes and made a short stop to have a class photo with the elegant flamingos.

As we walked along, we saw zebras strolling, donkeys eating, goats pooping, birds flying, penguins swimming, and monkeys swinging from the branches of a tree. At the elephant area, we made a brief stop to have a drink- the large amount of water in their cage and the hot weather, made us thirsty. We continued our stroll and entered a dark room where snakes, crocodiles, iguanas, turtles, bats, and other cold-blooded animals are located. We then went to see the gorillas. “I’m hungry!” shouted one of our friends as we saw one of the gorillas munching some grass as his lunch.

After a fun morning of walking, exploring, and learning about animals, it was finally time for lunch. We found a shady place and laid our own picnic sheets and opened our lunch boxes- rice balls, sandwiches, meatballs, fruits, jelly, etc. We enjoyed our lunches and chatted about the most fun and memorable thing that happened today. On the way out of the zoo we saw a hippo sleeping and tried waking it up by shouting “hippo!” at the top of our lungs.

It was a full day of wonder, laughter, and learning. Our first trip to the zoo was indeed a huge success, and we can’t wait to go on another adventure together!
