Recently in Rabbit Class we went on our first ever field trip! We went to dig up sweet potatoes with Tanpopo and Tulip Class. Luckily it didn’t rain, so we took the bus to the farm where the kind staff were waiting for us. We each took a small shovel and plastic bag and began digging the soil. The soil was quite hard, but we tried our best! We were so surprised to see so many big sweet potatoes in the ground. After digging up the potatoes we put them in our plastic bags and washed our hands before taking a break to drink some tea. After that we had some extra time so we explored the farm before going back to Ishida Preschool. On the bus journey we discussed all the delicious and interesting ways to cook and eat sweet potatoes, and how we are planning to eat our potatoes. We were very tired after using a lot of energy to dig the sweet potatoes but we were able to enjoy curry and rice for lunch when we came back.
