Students from the year 1 and year 2 classes of Ishida Kindergarten have been on a trip to Kyoto Zoo.

We travelled to the zoo on the school buses. Rabbit (International) and Momo classes went on the red bus, and Tanpopo class went on the purple bus.

When at the zoo, we went a walk around and viewed many different animals. We saw lions, tigers, gorillas, elephants, giraffes, monkeys, penguins, zebras, flamingos, mandrills, a hippo, a jaguar, and even bush dogs.

Many children were fascinated by such a range of wild animals. I explained about the animals features to the children, focusing on the students on the International course: Giraffes are tall. Elephants are big and heavy. Gorillas are strong. Flamingos are pink. Penguins are black and white. Mandrills have blue faces.

The big male gorilla was very sleepy when we viewed his cage. He is strong and powerful, with an angry-looking face, but was quite cute as he curled up to rest. One of the tigers was climbing on a high platform in his cage. He did a wee-wee, and it sprayed down onto an unlucky man that was standing below!!

With so much walking, most of the children were hungry by lunchtime. Everyone enjoyed to eat their lunches, picnic-style, by the side of the river.

When it was time to return back to school, the children were a little tired. Some started to fall asleep on the bus as it returned to Ishida Kindergarten.

It was an interesting day at the zoo!

（年少組と年中組のお友達が京都動物園に遠足へ行きました。

たんぽぽ組は幼稚園の紫バスで、もも組とラビット組は赤バスで動物園まで移動しました。

動物園ではたくさんの動物を見て回りました。

ライオンやトラ、ゴリラ、象、きりん、猿、ペンギン、シマウマ、フラミンゴ、カバ、ジャガー、ヤブイヌを見ました。

子どもたちはたくさんの野生動物に魅了されていました。

私はインターナショナルクラスの子どもたちに焦点を当てていろいろと説明しました。

キリンは高くてゾウは大きくて、ゴリラは強くてフラミンゴはピンク色。ペンギンは白黒でマンドリルは青いお顔、などなど。

ちょうど私たちが見ていたとき、オスのゴリラはとても眠たかったようで力強くて少し怖い顔でしたが、ゴロンと休んでいる姿はかわいかったです。

また、トラは柵の高いところを歩いていておしっこをし、その下にいた不運な男性にかかってしまっていました！

たくさん歩いたのでみんなお昼には腹ペコで、小川の横でピクニックのように食べるお弁当を楽しんでいました。

幼稚園に戻る頃には少しお疲れ模様で、帰りのバスで眠り始めました。

今日は動物園で楽しい1日でした！）
