The Mobile Zoo.
The mobile zoo attended Ishida Kindergarten on Wednesday 19th October. This zoo brought a variety of farm animals and pet animals for the children to see and interact with.
The animals arrived in a large cattle truck and were escorted by two zoo keepers.
Most of the animals were located in a temporary pen, but other larger animals were tethered to pegs in the ground.
We could see sheep, goats, a donkey, a cow, a pig, guinea pigs, rabbits, a mouse, and even a snake!
After listening to the zoo keepers talk about the animals and explain the safety rules, the students split into two main groups. They could then proceed to view the animals at close range, either inside the pen, or by lining up near to the tethered animals. All the students had the chance to stroke and hold many different animals.
Earlier in the day, food had been brought to school by the students. These foodstuffs could then be fed to the animals one piece at a time by the children. The food available included: cabbage, Chinese cabbage, carrot, sweet potato, giant radish leaves, apple, and bananas…..and there were even some jujube (natsume)!
The students were fascinated to see the animals up close. They really enjoyed to touch and play with them. The rabbits and guinea pigs were very popular, but some children were a little frightened by the big black pig and the strong goats!
It was so wonderful to be near to animals and to experience other living creatures.

（10月19日（水）石田幼稚園で，こどもふれあい動物園が行われました。この動物園は，子どもたちが見たり触れ合ったりすることを目的として，様々な牧場動物やペット用の小さな動物を連れてきてくれます。
動物たちは，2人の飼育員さんと共に家畜運搬車両に乗ってやってきました。多くの動物は仮で設置された囲いの中にいたのですが，他の大きな動物たちは杭からのロープに繋がって，待ってくれていました。
飼育員さんから動物や安全に接する為のルールの話を聞いた後，子どもたちは２つの大きなグループに分かれました。その後，見学に移り，とても近い距離で，時には囲いの中に入り動物たちと触れ合いました。子どもたちみんな，たくさんの動物を，撫でたり抱っこしたりすることが出来ましたよ。
この日は，食べ物を持ってきてくれた子どもたち。これらの食べ物は，動物たちにご飯をあげる為のものでした。キャベツや白菜，ニンジン，さつまいも，大根の葉やリンゴにバナナ…そしてナツメまで！
子どもたちは動物を間近に見られることに魅了されたようです。動物との触れ合いをとても楽しんでいるようでした。ウサギやモルモットはとても人気が高かったのですが，大きな黒いブタや力強いヤギには少し怖がっているようでした！
動物たちとここまで近くで触れ合い，ほかの生き物の生態を知れることはとても素晴らしいことでしたね。全ての生き物に，感謝と思いやりの気持ちをもちましょう！
