The Mobile Zoo
Hello there. How’s it going? First and foremost I would like to introduce myself. My name is Doms. I am from the Philippines and I am the new English teacher in Ishida Preschool (Bear Class).
Have you ever heard of the song, “Old McDonald Had a Farm”? It’s a children song about farm animals and their sounds. Did you know that in the original song there are eight (8) animals featured in that song? Can you name them? Well there are dogs, hens, ducks, cows, pigs, cats, goats and donkeys. This is a good song if you want your kid to learn farm animals.
October 14th of the year 2020 was one of the most memorable day in Ishida Preschool. It was the day “Old McDonald” came to visit the school bringing some farm animals. The day before that, the students were told to bring some animal feeds like fruits, vegetables, and loaves of bread. Some brought carrots, cabbage, apples, bananas, and loaves of bread cut into tiny pieces. Early that morning everyone gathered the animal feeds that they brought as they waited for “Old McDonald”, the animal caretaker to arrive. And the wait is over when everyone saw a truck full of farm animals came to the yard of Ishida Preschool. Then the animal caretaker started to unload the truck. They started with small animals like chickens, rabbits, marmots/guinea pigs, and ducks. Then some medium sized animals like a pig, some goats and a couple of sheep. Lastly came out the big animals like a cow, a pony and a goat. They even brought a special kind of animal- a snake. The students’ reaction back then were mixed. There were some who’s nervous and terrified. A few even cried because they were scared. But most of them were happy and excited to touch and pet the animals.
Indeed it was a day to remember. And for the students of Ishida Preschool, not only they had a great time with the animals but also grew to love and care for them.
