We are now approaching Tanabata. It will soon be July 7th.

For Open Day, all of the children have been creating some Tanabata crafts.

The students and their parents created two pieces of craft today. All classes produced Tanabata-related items, but the actual ones were dependent on the year of the class. Year 1 students – which includes Rabbit class – made a rocket, and a star.

The rockets were made from clear plastic egg boxes, that had to be filled with colourful “flower paper”. These boxes were then finished by affixing colour paper to form the rockets’ top and bottom parts.

The stars were pieces of colour paper that the students drew faces on. Each of these were then fixed above a clear plastic cup using a strip of paper tape.  Finally many lengths of colour plastic ribbon were attached to the rims of the plastic cups. This resulted in a bunch of friendly stars that seemed to be travelling through the sky.

In total the children created five pieces of Tanabata craft – three in our regular classes, and two on open day.

Finally, we decorated bamboo branches with these crafts. A sunflower, a fish, a star, a rocket, and Orihime and Hikoboshi could all be seen on each bamboo branch.

At the end of the day, all the children could have a special drink of Calpis. They were really excited that they could drink this instead of their usual tea.

Please display the bamboo near to the door of your home, and be sure to look up at the sky on the evening of Tanabata. Maybe you will be able to see Orihime and Hikoboshi looking down upon you!!

 

(７月７日の七夕がもうすぐ近づいてきています。

参観日に向けてみんな七夕飾りを作ってきています。

子どもたちと保護者の皆さまは二つの制作をしました。どのクラスも七夕飾りを作りましたが、学年ごとに違います。

ラビットクラスを含む年少組は、お星さまとロケットを作りました。

ロケットは卵のパックにいろいろな色の花紙を詰めて、ロケットの頭と底の部分を貼り付けて作りました。

お星さまは、子どもたちが顔を描き、紙テープでゼリーカップの上につけました。

最後に、すずらんテープをつけたゼリーカップをつなげて完成しました。

仲良しのお星さまがお空を飛んでいるようでした。

 

３つの飾りは保育の中で、２つは参観日に作ったので、最終的に５つの七夕飾りが完成しました。

 

そして笹に飾り付けをして、ひまわり、魚、星、ロケット、織姫様と彦星様がきれいに見えていました。

さらに最後には特別にカルピスを飲んだのですが、子どもたちはいつものお茶の代わりにカルピスを飲んでいることに大興奮でした。
