Today we celebrated Halloween at Ishida Kindergarten. The international course students had a Halloween party. Each student and teacher wore a mask they made. They were typical Halloween characters like ghost, witch, skeleton, etc. The students grouped up and were led by Saki-sensei around the school. They were told to find the other teachers and Encho-sensei to fill their stamp cards.

The teachers hid in the dark and surprised the students. They learned some phrases like:
“trick-or-treat”
“Boo!”
“I’m a _____”.

After the stamp card was complete, we met for a trick and a treat. For a trick, Mark-sensei had some candy in his hand. But it was really a witch’s missing finger! Scary! The students loved this. For a treat, Kanae-sensei gave them an origami cake. The students put these in the jack-o-lantern bags they made.

The students understood what Halloween is about and had a very fun time. It gave me nice memories of my childhood in Canada.

（今日石田幼稚園でハロウィーンのお祝いをしました。インターナショナルコースの子ども達がハロウィンパーティーを行いました。

お友達と先生が自分で作ったお面をつけて，おばけや魔女，がいこつなど典型的なキャラクターになりました。グループを作り，さき先生と一緒に幼稚園を周り，ほかの先生や園長先生を探してスタンプを押してもらうことにしました。

先生たちは暗い部屋に隠れ，子ども達を驚かせました。子ども達は「トリックオアトリート」「ばあ！」「私は○○です」などの表現を学びました。

スタンプカードがすべて埋まると，トリックオアトリート（いたずらとご褒美）のために集まりました。

いたずらとしてマーク先生がキャンディーを手に持っていました。しかし本当は魔女の指だったんです！怖～い！子ども達は大喜びでした。ご褒美としてはかなえ先生が折り紙のケーキをくれました。みんなはこれを自分で作ったジャックオーランタンのバッグにいれました。

子ども達はハロウィーンについて知り，とても楽しい時間を過ごしました。私の小さい時のカナダでのことを思い出しました。
