Sports Day Rehearsal

Law of Exercise or Principle of Exercise states that those things most often repeated are best remembered. Its key features are drill and practice. Studies show that students learn best and retain information longer when they have meaningful practice and repetition. Hence, the saying “Practice makes progress”.

It has been two months since the students of Ishida Kindergarten started preparing/practicing for the annual Sports Day festival. Each year level has their own presentation to make and/or sports-related stuffs to do. The number of the things that they have do increases as the year level goes higher. The Tulip class and the Yr. I students have been practicing for their dance numbers, and sprint races. The Yr. II students have been training for their para-balloon presentation, karate (with Yr. III), and their sprint race. The Yr. III students, on the other hand, have been pushing themselves to their limits by doing four different activities, namely: formation gymnastics, karate (with Yr. II), obstacle race, and relay. Nothing had stopped the students in practicing. Rain or shine, they practiced indoors and outdoors, and showed a significant amount of progress over time.

On the 28th of September 2022, exactly a week before the official Sports Day, Ishida Kindergarten conducted their general rehearsal. The sky on that day was a bit dim in the morning but started to brighten as the time goes by.

They started the rehearsal by lining up in front of the classrooms, with the Japanese course on the left side and the International course on the other side, then slowly marched to the yard to their respective lines (places). They then sang some songs and did the “Clock Exercise” to warm the students up.

When it was time for the first presentation, the Yr. III students then prepared themselves to do the formation gymnastics with the help of the Sports Class teacher, Samejima sensei. Everyone was then left amazed with their body flexibility and complex body stunts that they did.

They were then followed by the Yr. II students’ colorful and beautiful para-balloon presentation.

Right after the Yr. II students, the crowd was then amused by the cuteness by the Tulip class students when they did their dance presentation.

The first sprint race was done by the Yr. I students. Everyone was left adored by their combined cuteness and speed.

The next part of the program was the Karate presentation of the Yr. II and III students. They showed great discipline and excellent karate stances and executions with the help of the Karate teacher, Nakano-sensei.

Right after that, the Tulip class students, just like the Yr. I students, showed cuteness and agility when they did their sprint race.(チューリップ組のかけっこです。

The next presentation was the adorable Yr. I students as they danced to the tune of the very catchy song, “Jamboree Mickey”.(年少組のお遊戯「ジャンボリ・ミッキー!」

Right after that, the Yr. III students showed combined agility and strategy in their obstacle race.

Right after them, the Yr. II students then showcased their speed in their sprint race.

The last part of the program was the Yr. III students’ relay race where they left everyone amused with the speed and teamwork that all the team have shown.

Practice may not ensure perfection, but it absolutely grants improvement. The students of Ishida Kindergarten, with constant practice and training, showed significant improvement. They have not only made their teachers proud but will surely make their parents left amazed on the actual day of the event.
